Iran, Azerbaijan Vow to Broaden Bilateral Ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi and Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in a meeting in Tehran underlined the need to develop and enhance mutual cooperation in different fields.

During the meeting in the Iranian capital on Monday, Vaezi and Mustafayev explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties in all areas, specially trade and economy.

The two sides called for accelerating the implementation of the previous agreements.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of organizing the 14th Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission. 

In relevant remarks in early January, Tehran's Ambassador to Baku Seyed Abbas Mousavi and Azerbaijan's economic officials discussed the partnership of Iranian companies in the reconstruction of Karabakh.

Mousavi met with, President of the Confederation of Employers, Mohammad Musaev, and Chairman of the Board of Highway State Agency of Azerbaijan, Saleh Mohammadov, to discuss the capabilities and experiences of Iranian service and engineering companies in the reconstruction of the war-hit region. 

They also discussed the latest developments in the economic relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the strengthening of private sector ties between the two countries.

The government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has planned to implement large-scale development and reconstruction projects in the liberated territories of Karabakh, and in this connection, it is expected that $ 1.3 billion will be allocated from the general budget of the country for next year.

The Azeri President Ilham Aliyev has called on friendly countries to take an active part in the implementation of development and reconstruction projects in Karabakh.
